Dodge SRT | The Vitruvian Machine
When I started creating my portfolio for ad school, upperclassmen Jake Peterson and Jagger Moore approached me about doing an automotive spot. Up until that time, that hadn’t been done at our school, probably because it was too stupid of an idea to try and pull off. But that initial idea snowballed into a very real one that lead me to scouting at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, UT, working through insurance and risk management with our school and thet track, trying to find a driver with the exact car we were looking for, and figuring out how to set a bunch of barrels on fire and drive said vehicle through them, with smoke machines, at night.
Aside from the fact that the drone pilot (who donated his time and only made us pay for gas) lost his drone in a collision with some pipe that was rigged up to the camera car, we all made it out safely and without injury. Pretty lucky. I look back at this project and see all of its flaws, but I also see a lot of promise from some kids who wanted to make something cool. And for that, I’m pretty proud of it.
